Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the founder of the CMI Congregation and the great educational luminary of the 19th century, is our source of inspiration. The seminal influence of his vision and mission permeates all our activities.

 

The motto of Kuriakose Elias School Complex, "Illumine, the light of the World", is an invitation to all the students to illumine themselves and the whole world with the light of the wisdom and learning. The students are to be the light of the world. The students and the staff shall toil to achieve this priced goal and enlighten the world around them with the light of their learning.

1. Kuriakose Elias School Complex, Mannanam, named after Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara, the co-founder of the CMI Congregation, started on 16-07-1991.The group of institutions is run by the Catholic minority community, owned and managed by Kuriakose Elias Education Trust (KEET), Reg.No.117/87, of St.Joseph's Province Thiruvananthapuram of the CMI Congregation. The Provincial is the President of the Trust and the Manager of the institutions. The institutions are unaided and recognized by the Government of Kerala.
2. Kuraikose Elias Higher Secondary School is the first among the institutions under Kuriakose Elias School Complex. It is under the General Education Department of the Government of Kerala started in June 1991 with U.P. and High School Sections in the State Board Syllabus. The Higher Secondary Course was sanctioned to this school on 22 July 2002.
3. Kuriakose Elias English Medium School is under ICSE, Syllabus and was started in June 2000.The Govt. of Kerala issued N.O.C to the school on 27 July 2001 and the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, Delhi, certified Kuriakose Elias English Medium School as its affiliated school to prepare and enter candidates for the Indian Ceritificate of Secondary Education(Year 10) examination on 1 February 2002. The school is at present permanently affiliated to the Council and has the sanction to prepare and enter candidates for Indian School Certificate (Year 12) examination.
4. Kuriakose Elias Kindergarden was started in June 1995.
5. Kuriakose Elias Boarding House for boys was started in August 2000. The Boarding House is run and managed by CMI Fathers.
6. The Boarding House for girls, Suvidhya Bhavan, was started in June 2002. It is run by the Congregation of Salvatorian Sisters.
7. Kuriakose Elias Day Care Centre and Play School was started in June 2003

Blessed Kuriakose Elias Chavara (1805 – 1871), Rev. Fr. Thomas Porukara and Rev. Fr. Thomas Palackal were eminent priests of Kerala Catholic Church during the 19th century. In the prayerful reflection, they realized that only a religious community of dedicated Brahmacharins could usher in social progress in India. Hence, on May 11, 1831 they laid the foundation at Mannanam for the first indigenous congregation, known as the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI). It is a religious fraternity of Catholic priests and brothers who voluntarily accept the vows of poverty, obedience and chastity. At present, it has more than 2000 members working in different parts of India, Africa, USA, Europe and Latin America. The CMI Educational Agency co-ordinates the educational apostolate of the Congregation. It started the first Sanskrit School in Kerala in 1846 and the first primary school in 1864. The CMI Educational Agency is proud of the pioneering efforts of its founding fathers in the field of education for achieving 100% literacy in Kerala. It runs first grade Colleges with post graduation and research centers at many places in  India.

The school aims at not only preparing the pupils to pass examinations, but also enabling them to take their right place as learners in the intellectual and civic life of our nation. With this end in view, the school makes a careful selection of the pupils and demands a high standard in ideals and academic attainment. A sense of discipline and respect for rules and regulations have been inculcated and cultivated in the students during their school days so that they may become disciplined citizens. A strict observance of the rules and regulations of the school helps them in this regard. Hence the rules and regulations have to be looked upon not as restrictions imposed on them but as part and parcel of their school life that help them in character formation. All the school activities are directed towards this end.
